Life from the back of the pack (potato picking)

One of the things we love about being members of Willows Farm is going to the various seasonal events they run, soon we will be picking pumpkins but for the last month we have had opportunity to go and dig up potatoes which we then get to take home.
Today was our second trip to the potato field and the girls loved it - the magic moment when the fork lifts this straggly half dead plant and reveals the potatoe crop underneath.
So with buckets overflowing we trek back to transfer our haul into bags for the trip home.
Now just looking forward to cooking them up for Nanny and Grandad and Aunty Carol on Monday!

Getting ready for Christmas!

I know it's still September though to be honest I love Christmas and can't wait to stick on some Christmassy music and get stuck in!
So supplies have been purchased and the cutting has begun, I aiming for 200 nativity cards and then helping the girls to make 90 stamped cards for their friends!
So the target is mid to end of October - we will see!!

Challenge complete!

Rebecca did complete her challenge before me - no real surprise there but I did complete it in good time ready to post to Wales for my nieces birthday.
It was while shopping for Rebecca's trainers that she had set the challenge. We had been looking at baby clothes for Ivy's birthday but all the very lovely clothes the girls liked were very expensive (we were in John Lewis!) As we walked past the sewing/knitting section Rebecca commented that I could make Ivy a present.
My reply was along the lines of " I don't knit clothes" - " well that could be your challenge" she responded - now what do you say to that! So she chose a pattern and armed with wool and needles and google!! I began my challenge! To be honest the knitting was miles easier than the sewing but it finally came together and for a first attempt I was quite pleased.
I adapted a beanie hat pattern to match the cardigan and crocheted some flowers to complete the set.
Ivy turned one today and first reports are promising! Perhaps I should listen to my children more often!!
